Every community is unique, but the nation's underdeveloped rural areas share devastating circumstances and unrelenting problems. A combination of poverty, awareness and insufficient community infrastructures contributes to a lack of development activities such as roads, health care, child care, disaster, education, youth development, income generation/ livelihood, awareness, human rights, environment conservation and so on. The natural environment, pride and milestone of rural areas, have been seriously depleted or destroyed and the compounding these problems fallout is the absence of vibrant grassroots institutions. A group of fervent youths realized that no single reason explains why so many people in rural terai have been unable to overcome poverty and agreed to establish Nepal Integrated Development Society (NIDS) in 2068 B.S. and registered in Sarlahi district.
