The NIDS stands for building
peace, prosperity and progress of the people/communities based on democracy and
social justice as well as freedom and equity. The following working approach
stems from these foundations:
Participatory/Principles/Methodology: The
NIDS stands firm in participatory principles and methodologies in its
work.
Empowerment: It
relies on participatory processes to empower the marginalized communities
with whom it works. It does not aim to create dependency rather fosters
independence.
Democratic
Exercise: An
open system of work is the base of NIDS where expression of opinion and
ideas is welcomed and genuine dialogue and consensus is accepted.
Transparency: NIDS believes in open and
transparent planning, working and financial as well as policy and
decision-making modalities.
Responsiveness: The
NIDS believes in responsibility towards the people. The Executive
committee is responsible towards the membership and the organization
towards the communities/groups it works with.
Partnership: It upholds the principle of
genuine partnership in its dealings with people, like-minded organizations
and institutions.
